Cemetery Tours

The Geary St. Cemetery is one of the oldest cemeteries in Dartmouth. Veterans of the Battle of Waterloo are buried in the cemetery.

Come and explore the Geary St. Cemetery with your smart phone! QR codes will be placed throughout the cemetery for you to scan with your smart phone and learn about the unique history of this cemetery.

Departures: The Geary Street Cemetery Interactive Online Media Tour

Media artist Leola LeBlanc, in collaboration with local youth, created Departures: The Geary Street Cemetery Interactive Media Tour, an interactive on-line map and interactive walking tour of the Geary Street Cemetery that is accessible to youth and the public. The tour and map will be incorporated into curriculum created for Elementary, Junior High and High School students in collaboration with Alderney Landing’s Bluenose Ghosts Festival. (approx. 145 schools will be invited to participate)

The project has created an interactive map and tour filled with creative information relating to the historical significance of the Geary Street Cemetery.

Google Earth streams the world over wired and wireless networks enabling users to virtually go anywhere on the planet and see places in photographic detail. This is not like any map you have ever seen. This is a 3D model of the real world, based on real satellite images combined with maps, guides to restaurants, hotels, entertainment, businesses and more. You can zoom from space to street level instantly and then pan or jump from place to place, city to city, even country to country.
